The Evolution

We spoke with Jasmine, who is an amazing mother to a beautiful baby boy.

We spoke with Jasmine, who is an amazing mother to a beautiful baby boy. Her dedication to her future proves that she is willing to do whatever it takes to provide for her family. Her interview is super inspiring and we hope you all enjoy it. Check it out!

How was your childhood? What experiences, negative or positive, do you think molded you into the person you are today?

My childhood was great. My parents worked really hard for us to have the things we wanted. My sister and I got to travel around the world with my parents. As a 12-year-old, getting to go Disney world in France was amazing or even being at the beach in Italy was simply amazing. Now, being a mother I strive to do the same for my son and future children. I might not have had the best relationship with my dad but it’s made me a better mom because of it. However, since having a baby, my dad and I are closer.

Have you ever dealt with insecurities? What are they and how did you overcome them?

All throughout high school I had insecurities. It wasn’t until after high school that I actually started to love myself. My relationship with my current boyfriend, the father of my child, has allowed me to let someone else truly love me. However, I still have some insecurities. Some days it doesn’t bother me. Some days it does. I have stretch marks from having a baby and gained some weight that I haven’t all lost yet. There’s days where I don’t even want to do anything because I think my hips look too big but then I just think about the fact that I gave life to a beautiful little boy, even when I was told I couldn’t.

You have a beautiful son, what is motherhood like? How is it shaping & changing you?

Motherhood is amazing! Watching someone grow and get to learn new things everyday just fills my heart with joy. There are some days where it can be very crazy and tiring because the baby doesn’t want to take a nap. There are going to be days where the shower might be the only time you get to relax. I wasn’t able to breastfeed that long because I couldn’t produce that much milk, which made me feel like a horrible mom. There’s thing like that you never really think about until you become a mom. Becoming a mom changed me a lot, just from having a difficult pregnancy and having my baby early. It made me see a lot and taught me not to take things for granted. My lifestyle has changed a lot, I don’t really like to go out anymore but there are times where I do want to go out and have fun—I mean I’m still 23. It can be hard to find a balance between being a mom, having a job and trying to make time for date night & family time when my boyfriend and I both work.

What are your long-term goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

My long term goals are to continue learning the art of makeup, there’s always going to be something new coming up in the industry. Another goal is to one day be able to stay at home with my kids.

In the next 10 years, I see myself owning my own home and having two more kids. I see myself being where I want to be in the makeup industry, with my work being so much better. I’ve only been doing makeup for 3 years and I’ve accomplished so much already!

What are you doing now to accomplish your goals?

I’m continuing to work for Sephora and I’ve learned so much just from being there for a year. Maybe one day I’ll move up and my work will be where I want it. I’ve taken a new job as well that will allow me to save more so I can get the house I want. As of right now my dream as being “Jasmine the Makeup Artist” isn’t going to give me what I need to create the life I want for my son.

We truly believe you will be able to dedicate your life to your family and your art. It is all a matter of time. We support you! To visit and learn more about Jasmine, check her out on Instagram @ Jayniicole_.
