How was your childhood? What experiences negative or positive helped shape the woman you are today?

My early years were great. I had a big family and lots of love. My sister passed away when I was about 6 years old and that was the beginning of a whole new life, it hit my parents very hard. My parents divorced which caused me to become this lost and angry child, turned teen and I ended up exposing myself to the full sinful and rebellious lifestyle. This ultimately made me a young teenage mom, I turned 18 the week after my daughter was born. She truly saved me, I did a 360 overnight and fell in love with motherhood and her, determined to give my daughter the best life I possibly could. I was determined to beat statistics.

Amazing what new life can do! Growing up, did you struggle with insecurities? If so, how did you overcome them?

I didn't realize it until I was about 30 years old that I never truly learned to love myself. I was always insecure about everything I did and doubted every decision I made. I think this is part of the reason I always seemed to have this tough attitude. I didn't like asking for help. I have realized over all these years that you have to truly love yourself, all of your faults, your past and your present in order to love another and in order to receive the right kind of love in return.

you have to truly love yourself, all of your faults, your past and your present in order to love another and in order to receive the right kind of love in return.

Were you always into fashion? What led you to become a fashion and lifestyle blogger?

I think I was always into fashion, I love creating and through fashion you can create. I grew up with 5 sisters and loved playing dress up with them. I started blogging one night after I designed this amazing dress for New Years. I began dressing more conservatively and so it was hard to find dresses to fit that. I found the fabric and went at it. I got so many compliments that I decided I wanted to share it which led to me blogging and opening a vintage boutique online.

How is your experience been as a vintage retailer?

I have loved all the ups and downs of being a vintage retailer. Every piece has a story, the people I have met and all the hands on education I have taught myself and learned from others. I love that I am selling sustainable fashion.

Who or what motivates you every day and why?

Allah (God) first, my mom and my children. I want to be better for the sake of Allah (God) first and to be able to take care of my mother and be a successful role model for my children not only personally but professionally as well.

What are your ultimate goals?

I would like to be successful, in life and in business. I wanted to be able to have something that helps me take care of my family and those in need. I am a huge believer in helping others regardless. GIVE AND YOU WILL RECEIVE. I want to have a foundation that supports young women support their dreams eventually.
