What negative or positive experiences profoundly impacted who you are today?

I've been through a lot in my 30 years of life. I've experienced betrayals, heartbreaks and tragedies. There were definitely defining moments for me, but one moment has stood out above the rest. Several years ago, I unfortunately witnessed a pedestrian hit and killed by the car traveling next to me. It was a terrifying and tragic experience. One that rocked me to my very core. I was haunted by what I witnessed for a long time, but I leaned on my faith in God and he pulled me through it. What the tragedy taught me is that life is precious and I should never take loved ones for granted. We never know when we might breathe our last breath and we should live each and every day like it is our last. We need to live more. Dance more. Love more!

What made you decide your career path?

I wanted to find a way to give back to others, a way to do fundraisers and help others achieve their goals. I needed something that would help me meet new people and get me out of my house too! We moved from California to Texas five years ago and it was a lonely time for me. I didn't know anyone. Then two years after moving to Texas, we moved to South Korea for 18 months. This was an even harder move. My daughter was four months old when we moved, I was alone for 10-12 hours a day with a tiny baby and I had no idea what I was doing! New mom and all! I was even more lonely in South Korea than I was in Texas. Once we moved back to Texas again, I had to make a change. I wanted to stay at home with my daughter, but I needed something to strive for. For me, Origami Owl has done that. I'm passionate about the jewelry I sell and I enjoy helping others tell their stories through our jewelry. It has been an amazing experience and I hope I can continue for a long time.

What are some obstacles you've had to overcome while deciding your career choice and how did you overcome them?

Since Origami Owl is a direct sales company, all I really had to overcome was convincing my husband that it would be a great opportunity for me. It did take some convincing, but he did finally came around and let me join!

Here's a little bit about how Origami Owl got started:

Origami Owl was started by a fourteen-year old girl, who just wanted to raise money to buy her dream car. Bella Weems not only was able to buy her dream car, but she was able to take her little kiosk company and turn it into much more. Now, it's not just her dreams, but dreams of thousands of others that are coming true. Origami Owl's mission is to be a force for good. To love, inspire and motivate people of all ages to reach their dreams and empower them to make a difference in the lives of others. I wholeheartedly agree with the statement and hope I can live it out every single day.

Now, it’s not just her dreams, but dreams of thousands of others that are coming true.

What are your current goals for yourself and your passions?

One of my favorite things about Origami Owl, is the opportunity it has given me to meet other people. I have met some incredible women, who are eager to share their stories of love and loss. I have laughed and cried with complete strangers. By the time they are ready to leave my Origami Owl table, I feel like I have made a friend for life.

My main goal is just to keep working with Origami Owl. I have great months and not so great months. I have to remind myself to keep pressing on and not give up! I love what I do and at the end of the day, I know that it is more than just selling jewelry and making money. It's creating lasting memories that I will hold on to for life.
