We spoke with Nastashia who is a poet, writer, and a creative at heart. We were so intrigued by her positive energy and her compassion for others that we had to speak with her. Nastashia also has a non-profit organization called Beauty Beyond Boundaries. Check out her story!
You’re a poet/writer, when did you first discover your gift?
Writing has always been a release for me. When I was about 13 years old I would write songs for a little singing group my friends and I started together just for fun. I stopped writing for a while and when I picked it back up I would write journals that started as expressions and ended with rhyming, so I started writing poetry. The fulfillment mentally was like therapy. Poetry is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever experienced.
As a writer, what do you mostly write about and what should we expect in your book?
I write about whatever comes to my mind: nature, love, people, injustice. My writing style is descriptive, how you can feel the words. I honestly just love that my writing is something that people can relate to. In my book there will be long poems, short poems and haikus about self-love, intimacy, as well as pieces I hope will speak to people’s spirit and elevate their mind.
Congratulations, on your non-profit organization, Beauty Beyond Boundaries? What is your mission and purpose? What made you want to launch your organization?
The non-profit is an amazing tool because my heart has always been dedicated to helping people. I knew my purpose, but I just hadn’t figured out exactly how I would do it. So I decided to put together Beauty Beyond Boundaries about a year and a half ago, and it just felt right. I was one step closer to fulfilling my purpose of helping others. “Consistent persistence” is what I always tell people. When it comes to your dreams, no matter what it is, you have to work hard everyday. Manifest it in your mind and act on it. One of my missions for the NPO is to reach young people and encourage them to follow their dreams, also to encourage everyone in a positive direction. There’s too much competition, and not enough unity. We need a spirit of unity amongst our people. Together we can accomplish things undreamed, and heights unreached.
Did you have a mentor as a child? If not, do you think your childhood could have been better if you did?
Growing up as a child my grandma was my best friend. Even though she lived in Atlanta and I lived in Texas we talked on the phone everyday. Even in college, I would call her on my way to class and when I got home from church. She has been such an amazing person in my life.
What are your ultimate goals for your future?
My goal is to spread my gift and be a light. To encourage LOVE, not only for people but also for this beautiful world we have been blessed to inhabit. The world gives us all the things we need to prosper and together we posses everything we need to be great.
