The Untold Story of Jewelz M.’s Journey to Body Love

Hang on, this girl is taking us on a journey of her own! If you're not holding on you may get left behind. There is so much left to do, see and be seen and Jewelz is taking full of advantage of every opportunity life throws her way.

We recently spoke to Jewelz about her life journey to loving herself, the #bigandblunt movement and her plans for 2017.

How did your childhood shape you into the person you are today?

My childhood and my past made me the women I am today from all the experiences and challenges I have faced. Growing up always being the fat kid and being judged for my size, even when size had nothing to do with it, taught me what it was like to be an outcast. Those experiences showed me today that I was not the problem, the people and society were.

Tell us about your journey with loving your body?

My journey of body love is a long one. It's a battle that I am ultimately winning every day. I wake up and embrace myself, but it's also a battle that will never end.

My journey of body love is a long one. It’s a battle that I am ultimately winning every day

Body hate, low self-esteem and waking up every day hating yourself takes a wicked toll on your mental and physical health. Once I confronted my mental health and discovered I still hated the way I looked, I realized that if I didn't have body love, all those answers I searched for and the work I did to make peace with my mind was for nothing. I realized that my biggest fear is what others thought of me, and my body is no one else's business!

Describe the emotions you had walking in the Gats by Lady Fashion Show at the Vancouver Fashion Week?

Walking for Gatsby was a dream come true. Being able to walk for a company who really understands body positivity and what it means to cater to everybody made me so proud. I felt inspired and inspirational all at the same time. It was amazing to do something that people always said I would never be able to do.

What was your passion behind starting #BigandBlunt?

My passion behind #bigandblunt takes me back to high school days and not being able to stand up for what I believe in because I was afraid of what others would think of me. The purpose behind #bigandblunt is for people to find their positivity and confidence to say what they want, be who they want and do what they want. Anyone can be #bigandblunt.

What journey will you take us on in 2017?

The journey of 2017 hasn't been written yet. But I can assure you all, that come 2017, I won't be slowing down, but speeding up and epic things will be happening not only with me but also with #bigandblunt.
