Wardrobe Stylist Cece on How to Fight Comparisons and Enjoy Your Own Journey

Cece’s aspirations were originally inspired by her mother’s passion for fashion. Upon arrival to the United States, Cece realized fashion would take her farther than she could ever imagine.

She started her blog, The Cece Network, and has been doing amazing things ever since. Most recently, she was seen working along-side WE TV host David Tutera.

Read more below to find out how Cece’s childhood helped shape her career and the woman she is today.

How has your childhood shaped the woman you are today?

My childhood was very interesting. My mom and dad played a very important role in my life. They both are very hardworking and loving individuals. My mom had to quit her job to take care of the kids, while my dad worked. They've also been together for 25 years and counting. My parents taught me and my siblings to be very prayerful and humble and to treat others equally. They also made sure we never lacked anything.

Thinking about my childhood and the way my parents nurtured me has shaped me into the woman I am today. I've learned to be hardworking, respectful of others, and open minded to others opinions to improve myself.

What insecurities did you face growing up? How did you overcome them or how are you dealing with them today?

I believe as women, we have so many insecurities. I would say I didn't have insecurities until I got to college in the United States. It mostly had to deal with how I felt inside and not necessarily outwardly.

I found that I compared myself to people and once in a while I catch myself still doing that. Sometimes, when I had opportunities thrown at me, I would shy away because I would think I'm not good enough. It's so crazy how others think you're doing pretty good but behind closed doors, I feel like I haven't accomplished a lot. I'm so hard on myself.

My mom always says everyone is on their own journey and it is not how far but how well. There are always people that will be better than you and vice versa. So I'm focusing on myself, being prayerful and hoping God takes me to where I need to be. As far as not being good enough, I always write down goals every year I want to accomplish. I started this in 2014. It definitely boosts up my confidence when I scratch them off my list. I have also become a risk taker, confident, and open to trying new things. I'm just focusing on the positive aspects of myself rather than the negative.

How did you get into fashion?

I've always been into fashion since my childhood. I also have a stylish mom so I like to look good. I started taking it seriously when people would come up to me and compliment me every single time. They would ask for outfit details and also ask if I could style them. I absolutely loved it! I then decided to start a fashion blog.

Who or what inspires you the most? Why?

My mom! She is a very positive and optimistic person. Sometimes I wonder how she manages to do that even in tough times. My siblings are also very encouraging and supportive.

What are your ultimate goals?

Building my brand and being successful in everything I choose to do.
